Wow! what a day we had today! We got up early after 8 hours of solid sleep - nothing could have kept us awake last night. We ate a small breakfast at the B&B then Kerstin (proprietor of the B&B) asked her son, Rupert, to drive us to the train station in Oxted where we got on a train that took us to Victoria Station near Buckingham Palace. After leaving the station, I walked while Reed sped ahead of me on his scooter (he feels so empowered on a scooter!!)
We had a special disabled tour - a no-step entrance since there are 47 steps in the grand entrance staircase. The State Rooms are magnificent! We were not allowed to take pictures inside, so I will have to show you postcards later. :~) But here is a picture of the outside

After Buckingham Palace, we walked about 6 blocks to The Bag O' Nails pub and had fish and chips, of course!
After lunch we toured the Royal Mews (stables and carriage house) and then the Queen's Gallery, then on to Westminster Abbey.
On our way to see the Jewel Tower, we also walked by the House of Parliament.
Beautiful, isn't it? By this time it's 3:45 and our train leaves from Victoria station at 4:23. So we had 20 minutes to dash 1 mile to the station and find the correct platform and get on the train before it left. Needless to say, I burned off all the calories I've been eating on this trip. Haha! We made it to the station and found platform 16 and got on the train with time to spare. I think I will sleep well tonight!
