We crossed the bridge and then found the way to the Tower of London. For some reason the Tower grounds were incredibly crowded with tourists today. It was very hard to get around. So we went first directly to the Crown Jewels display, which was my priority anyway. Several royal crowns and scepters and jewel encrusted swords are on display, including the crown Queen Elizabeth wore at her coronation and wears at special royal ceremonies. Then we went to the "White Tower" which is a 3 story building built by William the Conqueror in 1070. Well Reed did not go through this building as there were 41 steps to the entrance. Then inside it was a display of hundreds of pieces of armor, many full sets of armor for men and horses. Swords, cannon, guns, etc. There was even a dragon made of armor on display - very large dragon! |
